Raised in Southeast Houston’s South Park Village Dead End neighborhood, Jeremy Warren grew up navigating two worlds. While his mother, a devoted hospital worker, provided love, stability, and ensured her children had food, shelter, and clothing, the streets offered a different education. When she left for work, he stepped off the porch into the concrete jungle, learning to hustle, maneuver, and read the criminal landscape
around him. Yet through it all, he maintained his humanity. His father’s godly influence and biblical teachings provided him with both moral grounding and street wisdom, demonstrating how ancient stories could guide modern survival. The result is a unique perspective—what he calls being a “blessed sinner”—someone who has walked in darkness but never lost sight of the light.
The author’s book, The Juggler, blends fiction and lived experience, presenting stories from a neighborhood where violence and incarceration have claimed too many lives. Juggling street life and pursuing something better, he writes hoping to inspire others and shares life through his eyes. His goal is simple: to show the world that even in the hardest places, there’s wisdom to be found and lives worth saving. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he continues to call the city home while working to transform both his life and his community through his writing. Jeremy says embarking on a writing career is due to his mother, Diane Godley, who taught him, to continue with persistence, even when the balls seemed too many to catch.
